PAN Card Age Limit

  • There is no minimum or maximum age limit for obtaining a PAN card. Even newborns and minors can have a PAN, usually applied by parents or guardians on their behalf.

Indian Citizens (Adults) Any person 18+ years living in India can apply for PAN.
Indian Minors (Below 18) Eligible for PAN; Parent/guardian signs on their behalf

How to Apply for a New PAN Card 2026
Here is a simple and clear step-by-step guide to apply for a New PAN Card (For Indian Citizens):

Step 1. Apply Section में जायें :
  • नीचे दिए गए “Apply Online” लिंक पर क्लिक करें।
Step 2: Select Application Type :

Choose:  New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)

Step 3: Select Category :
  • Individual
  • Company
  • Firm
  • Trust

(Most people select Individual.)

Step 4: Fill Basic Details :
  • Full Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number etc.

Note : Mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar for OTP.

Step 5: Verify with Aadhaar OTP
  • You will receive an OTP on Aadhaar-linked mobile. Enter OTP to continue.
Step 6: Fill PAN Form (49A) :
  • Fill details Like : Address, Parents’ Name, State, District, Pin, Gender, Source of Income etc.
Step 7: Upload Documents :
  • Aadhaar (ID + Address + DOB proof)
  • Photo
  • Signature

(Aadhaar is enough for all proofs.)

Step 8: Pay Application Fee :
  • ₹105 for Indian communication address and ₹866 for foreign address
  • Payment methods: Net banking / UPI / Credit Card / Debit Card.
Step 9: Final Submission :
  • After payment → submit the form.
  • Your application will be sent to IT Department.
Step 10: Download Acknowledgement :
  • You will get a 15-digit Acknowledgement Number. Save it safely.
  • You can use it to track PAN status online.

PAN Approval Time :

  • E-PAN → 2 to 5 working days
  • Physical PAN (By Post) → 10 to 15 days
